Translate a scanned PDF

To most tools a scan is just an image. Here the text is read with OCR, translated, and placed back into exactly the same position on the page.

Why scans usually fail

A scanned PDF contains no machine-readable text, only one image per page. Classic translators therefore return an empty file or stop with an error.

The process here has three steps: OCR detects the text and its position, an AI model translates it in the context of the whole page, and layout mode rebuilds the page with the new text. Stamps, signatures, logos and photos are preserved untouched.

Scans work best at 200 dpi or more, straight, and evenly lit. Very faint fax copies or blurry phone photos can lose individual characters. In that case you can re-generate the translation for free with a short note.

FAQ

What file size is supported?
Up to 12 MB per document. Larger scans can be compressed or split into several files first.
Does OCR read handwriting?
Clearly written handwriting in form fields is often recognised. Fully handwritten pages give unreliable results.
Is the layout really preserved?
In layout mode every page is rebuilt: same font sizes, tables, columns, colors, images, stamps and signatures. Only the text changes.
Does it work with scanned pages?
Yes. OCR reads the text from scans, phone photos and image-based PDFs before translating.
What does a translation cost?
€0.95 per document. For several documents there are cheaper credit packs.
What happens to my file?
Files are transferred encrypted, processed inside the EU and deleted automatically after 30 days.
